Keola Beamer is internationally recognized as master of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. Over the past 35 years he has recorded over 19 albums in the style, most of it his own original material. The Coming of the Snow is a very significant departure from all of Beamer’s previous work. With this project chose to explore the works of various classical composers such as Satie, Ravel, Stravinsky, Mendelssohn, Rimsky Korsakov, John Dowland and the late Argentine contemporary composer, Astor Piazzola. The CD combines Beamer’s unique take on classical music is merged with his incomparable Hawaiian slack key tunings.
Cyril Lani Pahinui has won numerous Hawaiian music awards and two Grammys® and has traveled the world performing ki ho’alu, Slack Key guitar. Like all great Slack Key guitarists, he has developed a distinctive style that is instantly recognizable. His soulful baritone voice is also unique and brings a deeply personal emotion to everything he sings. He’eia is Cyril’s third solo album for Dancing Cat and features twelve classic solo recordings, including four soulful vocals and eight powerful instrumentals that showcase his traditional yet highly personal and modern approach to Hawaiian Slack Key guitar.
